Gonzaga University - Undefeated with first two games
SSC Alum - East Valley valedictorian - Morgan Manchester starts first two games as a freshman!
Only freshman to start the opening game for NCAA Division I Gonzaga University and only one of two freshman to start for the Bulldogs in their second game of 2009. Morgan has helped Gonzaga to an undefeated start and a successful beginning to coach Amy Edwards Bulldog career.

Morgan Manchester has played for SSC for numerous years. With her last year (2008-2009) being coached by Jeff Hohenthal. Morgan’s three younger siblings currently play for SSC as well (Brandon - Boys U16 coached by Greg Torres, Kendra - Girls U15 coached by Dan Philp, and Taylor - Girls U13 coached by Tom Dimmler.

SSC Elite brings home FIVE tournament championships from Couer d'Alene

SSC Elite teams traveled across stateline to Couer d’Alene, ID and returned home with five championship trophies!
Championships at Girls U11, Girls U13, Girls U14, Boys U13, and Boys U14.

Girls U11 and Boys U13 did not concede a goal all weekend. Girls U13 and Boys U14 gave up just two goals all weekend and Girls U14 gave up just one more with three.
Congrats to all the players and each of the coaches (Eric Bowton, Jason Bellefeuille, Cindy Lopez, Jason Cooper, Abbas Faridnia) for a great weekend of championship play.

High School Greater Spokane League Leading Goal Scorer
Golden and Silver boot both from Spokane Soccer Club
Greater Spokane League leading goalscorer and runner up, both play for Spokane Soccer Club, and last year played on the same U18 SSC Falcons team! Both were coached by SSC staff coach Jason Cooper this last fall.
On the last day of league games, University High School Senior Evan Frobe and Central Valley High School Junior TJ Delmedico were both tied for the lead. With the last league game being played, Evan scored in his final game with TJ being held scoreless. In turn Evan was crowned the 2009 scoring leader.
Also congrats to SSC Falcons U17 player Austin Walker (junior, Cheney High School) for being the runner up in the Greater Northern League!
All three players join the long tradition of history, of Spokane Soccer Club offensive stalwarts! Such as all time leading Greater Spokane League goal scorer Grant Falco (University High School ’99 and MVP in ’99 played at Seattle Pacific University ’03), MVP’s Evan Cummings (Ferris High School ’01 played at University of Washington ’05), Zach Kingsley (Shadle Park High School ’98 played at University of Washington ’02 and MLS Colorado Rapids), Abbas Faridnia (Ferris High School in ’97 played at Gonzaga University ’02,) and more!
Nick Marquiss - Scholarship Award Winner
Washington Youth Soccer District 6 Winner!
Congratulations to Boys U18 SSC Falcons player Nick Marquiss for winning the 2009 Washington Youth Soccer Scholarship. Nick was chosen for the scholarship from our district 6 area (everything east of the Cascade Mountains.) The Washington Youth Soccer scholarship program is open to members heading into their first year of college and focused primarily on academic merit.
Nick will be honored at the SoccerPalooza awards dinner and Sounders celebration, Saturday May 9 at the Hilton Seattle Airport and Conference Center.

Colby Smits Commits to EOU
U19 SSC player signs with Eastern Oregon University
Colby Smits, currently playing on the P1 U19 Falcons team has committed to continue on playing at Eastern Oregon University.
EOU head coach Jesse Watson had this to say about Colby, "We are excited to have Colby joining our program for a number of reasons. Of those her work rate, dedication, maturity and skill all make for a great fit. We are equally excited to foster and nuture a relationship within the Spokane soccer community, and hope to find more young players such as Colby for years to come."

Girls U11 State Cup Quarterfinalist
Quarterfinal game April 25 @ Northwest Nationals
  
Under 11 Girls team coached by Chris Bastin and Jason Bellefeuille advanced onto the quarterfinals with an elimination round victory over Pacific Premier 9 to 2. The quarterfinal game is against Northwest Nationals this Saturday, April 25 in Seattle. Congrats to the staff, and especially the group of girls and best of this luck in the match.

Starting for the 2009-2010 season Diadora will be the official brand worn by SSC players, coaches, and staff members.

Girls U13 and Girls U11 Advance!
Elimination Round Game on April 18
  
Congratulations to both the Girls U13 and Girls U11 teams for advancing out of group play and onto the elimination round of State Cup.
The Girls U13 team coached by Jason Bellefeuille and Sara Hawkins won two games and lost one to advance out as the second place team, behind CB United, in their group. The girls beat Mount Rainier FC 1 - 0, lost to Snohomish 0 - 2 and beat CB United 3 - 1. The elimination round game is against Eastside FC.
The Girls U11 team coached by Chris Bastin and Jason Bellefeuille won all three of the round robin games to advance out as the first place team! The girls beat FC Alliance 2 - 1, beat FWU Reign 5 - 1, and beat Dosveedayna 2 - 0. The elimination round game is against Pacific Premier.

Spokane Soccer Club is once again pleased to announce our Free Friday Footskills.
The training is open to anyone aged U6-U10, boy or girl, and it is free!
Boys go from 5:15pm - 6:15pm and girls go from 6:30pm - 7:30pm.

CONGRATULATIONS to SSC Falcons Boys U17 Premier Coach Jim Walker!
At last nights SPVJSA AGM meeting SSC Falcons Coach Jim Walker was awarded competitive coach of the year. Jim has been coaching soccer for numerous years and inspiring our youth soccer players with not only his teachings of soccer, but building character in each individual player. Coach Walker is what youth soccer is about!
CONGRATULATIONS TO SSC Junior Academy Boys U11 Recreational Team Coached by Tom Gresch!
Also, at last nights SPVJSA AGM meeting SSC Junior Academy Boys U11 team won the sportsmanship award, for the boys U11/12 age group! What a great acknowledgment of the character that both the boys and coach possess. The sportsmanship award is voted on by all of the other teams in the age group, and Coach Gresch and his boys showed through the whole season the characteristics of true sportsmans and were recognized by their peers. Way to go Coach Gresch as well for not only teaching the boys the finer details of soccer, but teaching the boys how to be good citizens!
Shane Stanley represents Washington at the Region IV Championships
Phoenix, AZ - Shane participating for the ODP Championship!

Region IV ODP Championships are being held in Phoenix, AZ January 17- 20. Spokane Soccer Club Elite player Shane Stanley was chosen to represent Washington State on the '95 ODP Team.
The top players throughout Region IV are participating at this event representing different states throughout the west coast (Alaska, Arizona, Cal-North, Cal-South, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.)
The Washington State ODP '95 are drawn in the round robin with Arizon, Oregon, and Nevada.

Coaching Staff Addition!
CJ Cooper
Spokane Soccer Club is pleased to announce a new addition to our coaching staff, CJ Cooper. CJ is currently the women’s goalkeeper coach at Gonzaga University. CJ has been doing Spokane Soccer Club's Goalkeeper training the last few months and will be doing individual keeper training through the Elite Soccer Academy. CJ has played and has coached at the NCAA Division I level.

US Club Soccer National Cup - Region G
Boise, ID

July 8, 2008 - Spokane Soccer Club Elite entered four teams into the prestigious US Club Soccer National Cup; U12 Boys, U12 Girls, U13 Girls, and U13 Boys. After the 4 day event SSC Elite had a combined record of 11 wins 2 losses and 1 tie! Bringing home two First place trophies, a second place and third place!
U12 Boys, coached by Ken Mays, finished third. They won their first game 3-1 against Pacific Premier (Seattle, WA) and their second game 5-0 over Evergreen SC (Everett, WA.) The third game was against Crossfire (Redmond, WA) and in a tough fought battle ended up losing 1-3 and finishing third.
U13 Girls, coached by Dan Philp, finished 2nd. In group play they won all three games without letting a single goal in! In the first game of group play was against PSSA (Bellingham, WA) they won 4-0. The second game of group play was against the Boise Nationals (Boise, ID) the score was 6-0. Final game of group play was against Snohomish United (Everett, WA) they won 1-0 and advanced to the Championship game. The championship game was played against the NW Nationals (Seattle, WA.) The game went into overtime after regulation was tied 1-1. In overtime NW Nationals got a goal and the girls run ended. A great showing for second place!
U12 Girls, coached by Jason Bellefeuille took home the first place trophy! In their first game they beat Les Bois (Boise, ID) 2-1. Second match was against crosstown club Spokane Shadow and the girls won 7-0. The final game against Westsound FC (Silverdale, WA) the girls took home the championship with a 4-1 win! Way to go Ladies!
U13 Boys, coached by Abbas Faridnia took home the first place trophy as well. In group play they won two and tied one advancing to the finals. In their first game they played Crossfire (Redmond, WA) and beat them 2-1. Second game was against FWU Storm (Federal Way, WA) and the boys tied 2-2. Final game of group play was against Les Bois (Boise, ID) and they won 5-3 advancing as the first place team. The final was against Westsound FC (Silverdale, WA) the boys took home the Championship with a 3-1 victory. Now it is off to Virginia for the boys as the Region G U13 premier Group representative for a chance at a National Championship!
ODP Regional Camp
McMinnville, OR
June 26, 2008 - Four Spokane Soccer Club players are currently in Oregon participating in the USYS ODP Region IV Camp representing the best of the best the western US has to offer. Goalkeeper Aidan Dowling, Midfielder Raleigh Hanson, Midfielder/forward Graison Le, and Midfielder Shane Stanley are all participating in the week long event.
Each state sends their best players to this week long camp and Spokane Soccer Club is excited that these four are there not only representing their respective States, but SSC as well.
Invited to the camp are the state teams from Alaska, Arizon, Cal North, Cal South, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. At the conclusion of the camp the Region IV team is selected from the best players of each of the state teams. Past SSC Alumni that have been on the Region IV team have been Morgan Johnson, Billy Sleeth, Zach Kingsley, Abbas Faridnia, Grant Falco, Matt Folsom, Evan Cummings, and more.

ELEVEN Spokane Soccer Club teams in WSYSA Premier League
A total of eleven Spokane Soccer Club teams will be participating in the upcoming 2008-2009 WYS Premier League! Three SSC teams were already seeded into the Premier season (U18 Boys Premier II, U19 Girls Premier I, and U13 Girls.) Another Eight went to the League Placements Tournaments these last two weekends, and all eight qualifed!
