  • Coach Strasser Letter to Players/Parents 2/27/11:

Dear Parents and Players,                                                                         27 February 2011

Saturday was the last full field preparation we will have before our first matches. White is playing Reign.  Red is playing Arsenal and MRFC Blue.  White knows what they are facing, however this will be new for Red (think Starfire Tournament last fall). Both of our teams are playing Super League so competition will be strong every time out.

The rosters for this coming weekend will be posted soon. Most of you are familiar with this, I will however take this opportunity to remind everyone of our team mantra: “tryouts are everyday”. As everyone is working hard and playing well setting the roster becomes very difficult, I’m glad to face such a dilemma.

I was very pleased with Saturdays work. We are among the best defending teams in the state. So, my hope is that this plethora of goals we have been scoring against each other is the result of hard work in the off season and a case of beginning to understand the movement and coordinated attacking effort we have been striving for on all along.

I will also take this opportunity to welcome and thank the young ladies who have joined us in workouts and scrimmages: Megan Oliver, Courtney Lauer, Casey Christiansen, Elena Wolf and Lauren Williams. They have added to our competitive quality at practice and their enthusiasm and drive to learn fits perfectly. The commitment and communication they have demonstrated is excellent.

A reminder to everyone; there are other things in our lives besides soccer, communicating these with your staff shows respect for your team mates. It also allows us to plan training and match line-ups accordingly.

It was great to have Merkel available to us in preparing for our upcoming spring season. Marty Long made the calls and all the arrangements, and believe me when I tell you there were hoops to jump through. So thank you Marty, very much from all of us.

    Sincerely,
    Coach Strasser
