Almost 200 teams participated last year allowing for almost every age group having Premier and Challenge brackets allowing for the perfect level of competition for every participating team! Teams participate from as far north as Calgary, AB - to as far south as Boise, ID - to as far east as Bozeman, MT - to as far west as Portland, OR. This is truly a Northwest tournament as almost every city in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington are represented. With an international flavor from Canada.

SSC Elite and Spokane Shadow players joined together to represent our newly combined club, SSC Shadow, at the 2012 Junior Lilac Parade in downtown Spokane.  The players showed their foot skills and handed out club tryout information and candy for the little ones along the route.  The day was a huge success and a lot of fun!

Join us at our Free Footskills Friday’s April 20th, April 27th, and May 4th.  Any player’s age U6-U10 are welcome to attend our Free Friday’s that will be held at Plantes Ferry.  Players will be split up by age group and ran through different stations working on various skills with SSC Elite’s professional coaches.

Spokane, WA - Committed to making soccer opportunities better for premier and select youth player in the Inland Empire, the Spokane Shadow Youth Soccer Club and Spokane Soccer Club (SSC) Elite Youth Soccer Club have announced their intent to merge, joining together their player, coaching and club resources.  The new club will be known as Spokane Soccer Club (SSC) Shadow.  Shadow Technical Director Sean Bushéy will serve as SSC Shadow Technical Director with SSC Elite Director of Coaching, Abbas Faridnia overseeing the club soccer operations and programming as SSC Shadow Director of Coaching. 

The merger will:
    * bring unrivaled licensed, professional coaching depth,
    * expose all players to a variety of coaches along their developmental pathway,
    * guarantee unique player development-centered training opportunities,
    * secure greater premier-level competition and success in state-wide Regional Club League (RCL) play; and, will
    * provide consistent coaching instruction and oversight for locally-competing select level players.   

“Our Spokane soccer players deserve to compete against the very best our state, region and, eventually, our nation has to offer,” said Shadow Technical Director Sean Bushéy.  “We cannot do that if we do not find ways to work together.  Our clubs have found a way!”  Echoed SSC Elite Director of Coaching, Abbas Faridnia, "While others have chosen to blaze a path for a few coaches, we have chosen to bring two clubs together because we know it is best for players at all levels, coaches and the community as a whole.  Our competition lies at a higher level.  Our players deserve this chance to represent Spokane and the outlying cities from which they reside, including north Idaho, Pullman and Moses Lake.”

The Regional Club League, hosted by Washington Youth Soccer, is the highest level of competitive premier-level league play in the state.  The only club in the greater Inland Empire to belong to the RCL, Spokane Shadow is a charter member of the league having met and maintained the stringent criteria for membership since its inception.  The Spokane Shadow has been ranked 6th in the Washington the past two years and is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. 

Spokane Soccer Club Elite, also a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, has a long history of soccer in our community and have experienced great growth since 2005.  The club achieved a #18 ranking in the state in 2011.  SSC Elite hosts two of the region’s largest annual youth soccer tournaments:  the Northwest Cup and the Inland Northwest 5-A-Side.  These tournaments welcomed over 300 teams in 2011.

“We are focused on raising the level of play at every level, from the Recreational level to the Select level to the only true Premier level available - the Regional Club League,” said Faridnia.  According to Bushéy, “And while playing collegiate soccer is not our sole focus, nor our ceiling, no other clubs in Eastern Washington have produced more players in collegiate programs than Shadow and SSC Elite.  Where do collegiate coaches go to find players?  They go to the best teams; the best teams are consistently found in the best clubs.  The best clubs play in the best leagues.  This is where players are tested and proven over time.  The best league in Washington, is unquestionably the RCL.  The success of the clubs that compete in the RCL is unrivaled.  SSC Shadow players will have the best opportunities.”

Annual tryouts for SSC Shadow premier and select soccer will be held in May.  All interested players are invited to tryout and are asked to register in advance.  Tryout registrations will be hosted on the Spokane Shadow and SSC Elite websites as follows:

For 2012, and the future moving forward, SSC Elite is excited to announce new requirements of our premier coaching staff. These essential changes, requirements, and expectations will only help our coaches be more effective in teaching and training our young players. It is imperative for all coaches to follow these. SSC Elite continuously seeks out ways to improve the coaches in an effort to provide our families the very best product in terms of player development, in not only soccer, but as a citizen of the community.

• Three to Four Player Evaluations a year, provided to the families of each child playing.
• Premier teams U12 and up Head Coach Holding an USSF National 'C' License or attain one within one year.
• Turning in training session lesson plans that parents have access to during the year.
• Following Partners Advancing Character Planning (PACE) teaching character traits.
• Attending Coaches meetings and education development to improve themselves as educators of our youth.

What do you get you ask?

1) Your son/daughter will get club level training taught by our Youth Development Director Jason Bellefeuille (holds his National B license) that follows US Soccer’s Age appropriate curriculum.  Everyone will receive 8 training sessions during the Fall season and 6 sessions during the Spring season.

2) Your son/daughter will recieve a club discount (nearly 50%) off our winter academy sessions.  This year SSC will conduct two six week sessions for one great price and your kids will receive a club discount.

3) Keeper training in the Fall (8 sessions) and Spring (6 sessions)

Congratulations to the SSC Elite G'97 Dobson team on a great tournament weekend in Tri-Cities taking home the Championship in the District 6 tournament.  Coach Jeff Dobson has done great job getting these girls prepared for league play winning all 4 games with a great 2-1 win in the championship game.  Great Job Ladies and good luck in your spring season.

Congrats Girls and Coach Bellefeuille! The girls took home the championship from the first weekend of outside competition winning the final against Three Rivers 2-0. Way to go Ladies!

SSC Elite B94 Premier battled their way to the Championship match over Presidents weekend at the Las Vegas Mayor's Cup. The Mayors Cup attracts teams from the entire USA with international teams coming from Mexico, Canada, Dominican Republic, Australia, Cayman Islands, and Poland!

Coach Philp and the boys beat teams from Colorado, Alaska, and Illinoss on their way to the championship game. In the final the boys just came up short losing to a squad from California North 2-1. It has a hard fought final that could have gone either way. Congrats to the boys and good luck with the high school season!

Spokane Soccer Club is pleased to announce the addition of Gonzaga University Assistant Mens coach Vito Higgins to our coaching staff. Vito will be starting his 5th year with NCAA Division One Gonzaga University this Fall. Coach Higgins played Goalkeeper for four years at Gonzaga University where he garnered team of the week, 2nd team All West Coast Conference, and NSCAA ALL Far West 2nd team. After Gonzaga, Vito signed and played for the LA Galaxy of the MLS, as a backup to Steve Cronin. Vito has also trained with numerous MLS and pro franchises. Coach Higgins has been in the coaching ranks for almost the last ten years. He coached for the Le Jardin Academy, run summer camp sessions for Gonzaga University, Hawaii ODP, and currently the Gonzaga University Mens Assistant Coach.

Vito will be running SSC’s keeper sessions for all of our academy keeper training. Vito will also be coaching with Dan Philp our high school boys aged team. We are extremely excited to have Vito join our staff!

For the upcoming Boys U17 and Boys U18 teams we are excited to have Vito directly working with our teams for their final two years of youth level play!
