UPDATE - Boys U15 Elite Premier Head Coach

Boys U15 Elite Premier Head Coach will be USSF National ‘A’ license holder, Ray Smith.

Coach Smith was the head coach at University of California Irvine (NCAA Div. 1), University of Wisconsin Platteville (NCAA Div. 3), and Elmhurst College (NCAA Div. 3.) Coach Smith was on the Illinois ODP staff as a head coach, was the director of ODP for Idaho, and was a Region II head coach. Coached Smith played for Biola University (NAIA) where he helped lead them to a #15 national ranking.

Coach Smith also played for the Southern California Seahorses.

USSF National ‘C’ license, Spokane Soccer Club staff coach, Greg Torres will
remain as Coach Smith’s assistant coach.

Spokane Soccer Club is extremely excited to have an unbelievable staff coaches at
this age group.

Tryouts for this age group is Sunday, March 16 12pm-2pm.

ANNOUNCING ADDITIONS SSC COACHING STAFF

Spokane Soccer Club is please to announce three new additions to our coaching
staff. Angela Dietzen, James Jasso, and Ray Smith.

With the addition of these three coaches Spokane Soccer Club has yet again
increased its quality of coaching staff by having the highest quality of staff in
the Inland Northwest. Spokane Soccer Club has 17 coaches on staff that have
coached or played collegiate soccer (six of them at the NCAA Division I level!)
and nine of the coaches have played or coached at the professional or semi-pro
level. Spokane Soccer Club currently has two USSF National ‘A’ license coaches and
four USSF National ‘B’ license coaches. No where else can you find a more
qualified staff of coaches or the amount of coaches with NCAA Division I, college,
pro, and semi-pro experience, as well as the upper level USSF licenses.

Angela Dietzen played collegiate soccer at Azusa Pacific University (NAIA.) Coach
Dietzen was co-captain of the 2006 National Champion runner up squad. Coach
Dietzen played premier soccer for FC Alliance. Coach Dietzen has coached in the
Seattle Sounder soccer camps as well as high school soccer at South Hills High
School.

James Jasso holds an USSF National ‘C’ license. Coach Jasso has been coaching
premier soccer the last seven years for the Spokane Shadow. He played collegiately
at Community Colleges of Spokane were he was a two time all star and led CCS to an
NWAACC championship. Coach Jasso continued on to play at Whitworth College. Coach
Jasso also played semi-pro for the USL PDL Spokane Shadow.

Ray Smith holds an USSF National ‘A’ license. Coach Smith was the head coach at

GIRLS PREMIER PARENT INFORMATIONAL MEETING

Parents,

The Spokane Soccer Club will be conducting a "Girls Premier Parent Informational Meeting" for anyone planning on trying out for one of our Girls Premier teams. The meeting is a great chance for the parents to get to know the training staff and get information about the plans for next year. The meeting is open to all Spokane Soccer Club parents as well as any parents from outside the club that would like to get to know more about our plans for next year. At these meetings we will cover the following items.

1) Get to know the head coach's as well as the trainer's.
2) Information about Premier Soccer
3) Tournament Schedule for the next year
4) Try-out process
5) Parent's chance to ask questions

Aidan Dowling - '94 Washington ODP Pool - February 8, 2008

Aidan Dowling is yet another Spokane Soccer Club player to make an ODP team.

Aidan has made the Washington State ODP ’95 pool for the 2008 year!

Aidan has played for Spokane Soccer Club since he began competitive play as a goalkeeper on the Elite ’94, coached by Abbas Faridnia (Spokane SC Director.) As well as receiving goalkeeper training from Spokane SC Head Goalkeeper Coach Mo Heston.

Aidan has been the brick wall in goal, leading his team to incredible success such
as Crossfire Challenge Champions, Northwest Cup Champions, P2 status (as a full
playup team!) and many more accolades.

Spokane SC goalkeeper coach Mo Heston had this to say about Aidan, “Aidan is one
of those special kids that shows up to training everyday to get better. His passion and work rate is unbelievable, and radiates to all of the goalkeepers involved in the sessions. Sky’s the limit for Aidan!”

Aidan joins the long list of Spokane SC developed players that have played ODP: Grant Falco (Seattle Pacific,) Billy Sleeth (Colorado Rapids MLS,) Evan Cummings (University of Washington,) Jess Deluchi (George Mason,) Nick Ascolese (Santa Clara,) and many more.

Aidan has taken one more step towards the US National Team. He has the opportunity
to go from the Washington State Team, to the Region IV team, to the US National Team!

Please wish Aidan best of luck and congratulations!

Shane Stanley - '95 Idaho ODP Pool- December 9, 2007

Congratulation to Shane Stanley!

Shane was selected for the 2007-2008 ’95 Idaho State Pool!

Shane joined Spokane Soccer Club last year. He played for Spokane Soccer Club Academy Director Ken Mays and recently competed with Director Abbas Faridnia’s team at the Washington US Club Cup.

Shane was an essential component in leading Ken May’s U13 boys team to the championship at the prestigious Chinook Cup in Portland, OR.

Shane played right back and center mid at the Washington US Club Cup. Playing against three PDL teams, with one of them being the USYS Far West Region IV Semifinalist. Shane helped lead the team to a win, loss, and draw at the Cup.

Shane joins fellow Spokane Soccer Club teammate Graison Le on the Idaho State Pool.

Shane currently resides in Sandpoint, ID and is one of many players that play for Spokane Soccer Club throughout the Inland Northwest.

Shane has taken one more step towards the US National Team. He has the opportunity to go from the Idaho State Team, to the Region IV team, to the US National Team!

If you get a chance, please congratulate Shane!

Nomads - SSC Falcons 90 - November 23, 2007

On Thanksgiving weekend, the SSC Falcons B90 team traveled to San Diego to participate in this years Nomads Thanksgiving Tournament.

Game 1 - After going down by a goal, the SSC Falcons rallied to a 2-1 victory over Cal-South's UIFC Scasco Thunder Red. Both Falcons goals were scored by Holden Newberg.

Game 2 - Facing an opponent from Cal-North, California Odyssey Red (Fresno-Clovis), the Falcons team went ahead 1-0 in the first half and held on for their second victory of the tournament.

The two victories secure the teams spot in the Nomads Quarter Finals.

US Club Washington Cup - Elite Teams - November 9, 2007

For the first time in history, players were training at Planets Ferry Soccer Complex under the lights. Four portable light stands were brought in by Spokane Soccer Club to help their teams prepare for this weekends tournament.

Spokane SC will be sending four Elite teams to the first ever US Club Washington Cup. They will be the only teams from eastern Washington and may face teams from the WSPL, PDL and Oregon Premier League.

Graison Le - '95 Idaho ODP Pool - October 1, 2007

Spokane Soccer Club is pleased to announced that Graison Le was selected for the '95 Idaho Olympic Development State Pool.

Graison has been playing with Spokane Soccer Club since he was U12. Graison's first year he played for Coach Ken Mays (Elite Academy Director). Ken helped develop and mold Graison in his first year in the SSC Elite program. Graison was also an extremely strong component of Coach Mays's team that had and extremely successful year.

This year Graison is playing for Abbas Faridnia (Spokane SC Director). Graison has helped lead his current team to earn a WSPL Division II (P2) slot as a play up team, Crossfire Challenge Champions, Northwest Cup Champions and Chinook Cup 3rd place.

Graison has taken another step in a long tradition of Spokane SC developed players that go on to play at the next level. This includes Bill Sleeth (Chicago Fire MLS), Zach Kingsley (Colorado Rapids MLS), Evans Cummings (Univ of Washington), Grant Lundberg (Gonzaga Univ) and Grant Falco (Seattle Pacific).

Graison currently resides in Hayden ID and is one of many players that play for Spokane SC throughout the Inland Northwest.

Graison has taken the first step towards the US National team. He has the opportunity to go from the Idaho State team to the Region IV team to the US National team.

DISTRICT 6 Letter To Membership - September 24, 2007

To all District 6 members:

It is with a mixture of anger, frustration but mostly deep sadness that I have to inform the membership that the future of District 6 league play is in doubt. This is also a call to action for the majority who have supported our league ...

... My sadness is that the District has lost a dedicated, caring volunteer and put our league in jeopardy. Our Director of Competition has resigned due to the thankless response and criticism that he received on a continual basis ...

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT - September 4, 2007

Spokane Soccer Club alumnus Grant Lundberg scores game winning goal for Division 1 Gonzaga University against defending NCAA Division One National Champion UC Santa Barbara. Lundberg's goal came in the 81st minute and held up as Gonzaga won 1-0.

Lundberg spent this last summer playing for the Spokane Spiders of the USL-PDL being coached by Spokane Soccer Club staff coaches Dan Philp, Jeff Hohenthal, and Abbas Faridnia.

Lunberg played 7 years for Spokane Soccer Club. His team was premier 1 from U14 all the way through U18. The team he was on were State Cup semifinalist one year and quarterfinalist two years. He was coached by Dave Sather, Manny Faridnia, and Todd Moorehouse.

Way to go Grant and best of luck with the rest of the season.

CHINOOK CUP RESULTS - August 26, 2007

Tigard OR (August 26, 2007) - Eight Spokane Soccer Club teams traveled to Tigard Oregon to challenge themselves at this years Chinook Cup.

Spokane SC teams came away with 3 Champions, 2 Semi-Finalists and 3 Quarter Finalist.

Over 273 teams from U10-U14 participated in this four day tournament that normally features teams from throughout the Northwest and California.

NORTHWEST CUP RESULTS - August 19, 2007

Spokane Valley (August 19, 2007) - Spokane Soccer Club had twenty teams enter the Northwest Cup.

The club ended up with 5 Champions, 5 Finalist and 4 Semi-Finalists.

Over 150 teams from Oregon, Idaho, Washington, Montana and Alberta competed on the 16 fields at the beautiful Plantes Ferry Soccer Complex.

This years Northwest Cup is the largest soccer tournament held at Plantes Ferry Soccer Complex other than the 2004 Far West Regionals.

Redmond (July 29, 2007) - Spokane Soccer Club had eight teams accepted into the Crossfire Challenge in Redmond Washington.

SSC Elite '94's Qualify for U14 Premier Play

Washington State Premier League - LPT's

Over the weekend, Spokane SC had two of their U13 teams qualify to play in the U14 Premier League.

The SSC Elite B94, coached by Abbas Faridnia, qualified for WSPL Division II (P2) play with a 3-1 win over Federal Way Storm.

On the girls side, our SSC Elite G94 team qualified to play in the U14 WSYDL (P4). Last Saturday, this team coached by Manny Faridnia and Jason Bellefeuille won their first game 2-1 against Metropolitan FC93 White to keep their Division III hopes alive. Their loss to Skagit Storm later that evening placed them in the P4 Division.

This was a huge accomplishment for both teams. Good luck to all Spokane area Premier teams as they compete in the up coming season!
